Synology RS11626xs+ NAS

The Synology RS11626xs+ is a 3U rackmount NAS for enterprise environments that brings data storage, backup and video surveillance together in one system and scales beyond 2 PB. It has 16 bays for 3.5" SATA HDDs or 2.5" SATA SSDs, plus 4 separate 2.5" bays for SSD caching. With eight Synology RX1222sas expansion units it grows to 116 bays.

Performance

An AMD EPYC 7303 processor (16 cores, 32 threads, 2.4 GHz, turbo 3.4 GHz) and 64 GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM memory (16 slots, expandable to 1 TB) deliver over 234,000 4K random write IOPS and up to 10,500/8,200 MB/s sequential read/write. Two pre-installed M.2 NVMe system drives run DSM in RAID 1, separate from the data pool: this provides redundancy for the operating system and reduces wear on the storage drives.

Networking and expansion

Built in are two 10GbE RJ-45 ports, a dedicated out-of-band management port and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. Two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots let you add 10/25GbE network cards, Fibre Channel adapters or M.2 NVMe cache. Eight Mini-SAS HD ports with multipath I/O connect the expansion units without a single point of failure.

Availability

Hot-swappable drives, fans and two redundant 800W power supplies, combined with online volume management, allow maintenance without downtime. Synology High Availability combines two identical systems into a failover cluster. Synology Tiering automatically moves inactive data to a lower-cost storage tier.
