The TP-Link TL-SG2218 is a Gigabit switch with 16 Gigabit LAN ports, to which you can connect network equipment. Think, for example, of computers, IP cameras, access points and VoIP telephones. In addition, the switch is equipped with 2 Gigabit SFP ports for fiber connections. The bandwidth of this TP-Link switch is 36Gbps, with a forwarding rate of 26.78Mpps.
Compatible with Omada SDN
It is possible with the Omada SDN firmware to remotely manage the TP-Link TL-SG2218 switch via the Omada SDN Cloud portal. Via one clear dashboard you have insight into the status of the network and you can, among other things, change settings and detect any problems. Because the network can be managed from different locations via the cloud, this saves a lot of time and costs. If you also use other equipment with Omada SDN support, you can manage your entire network via this platform.
L2+ functionalities
This TP-Link switch supports a range of L2+ functionalities, including 802.1Q VLAN, Port Mirroring, Link Aggregation Control Protocol and 802.3x Flow Control. There are also functions to prevent unnecessary data traffic, such as IGMP Snooping. This function ensures that a multicast stream is only forwarded to the correct devices.
With IGMP throttling and filtering you prevent a stream from going to unauthorized devices. You can set this per port. Static Routing is an easy way to segment the network and route data traffic efficiently through the switch. Some L3 and ISP features are only available when you use the switch standalone and not as part of an Omada SDN network.
Comprehensive network security
With a TP-Link TL-SG2218, your network is well secured. For example, the switch applies functions such as IP-MAC Port Binding, Port Security, DoS Defend and DHCP Snooping. The Access Control Lists (ACL, L2 to L4) feature protects your network data by blocking packets based on MAC address, IP address, TCP/UDP ports and VLAN ID. In addition, the switch supports 802.1X authentication, which identifies network users through remote Radius servers. One can only access the internal network when valid user credentials are provided.
